If you got to this article, you are stuck in a spearfishing quest called Always a Bigger Fish.

The game told you to go to Yanxia and spearfish it, but you might be struggling, don't worry, this quest is tricky, I will help you without taking much of your time.

Where to catch Dafangshi?

The requirement is that you are under the quest Always a Bigger Fish, which you probably are if you got here.

And you must also have finished the quest In Soroban We Trust, it's an MSQ quest where you dive in Ruby Sea.

Get into your best fishing gear, and head to Yanxia (X: 12, Y: 37).

This place is under the ocean, so you must dive. Go right over the ocean in the specified location, press the diving key.

• •For PC: you can dive by pressing CTRL + Spacebar.
• •For XBOX: Press "B" to dive.
• •PS4/PS5: Press "O" to dive.

First step, spearfishing Ichthyosaur

The Dafangshi only appear in a specific fishing spot, which you have to "unlock" by fishing some Ichthyosaur.

To fish the Ichthyosaur, find Level 70 spearfishing spots around the location indicated on the previous section of this guide.

Note: This involves some RNG, so don't worry if it takes a few tries.

Once you click on them, you can use the action "Gig" to throw your spear at the fishes that appear on the minigame.

This is the tricky part, you must only catch Ichthyosaur right now, a bunch of them. To do that, focus on the big fishes that appear on the screen.

I had luck targetting only the slow big fishes, but sometimes it is not always a guaranteed way of getting it.

Practice this for a bit, until you are getting many Ichthyosaurs.

Tip: You can use the skill Baited Breath to increase the time you have left fishing.

Second step, spearfishing Dafangshi

After you catch around 7 Ichthyosaurs, a bright sparkling fish spot will appear on your minimap, run there!

In this spot, you can spear the medium fishes and some of them will be the Dafangshi.

That's it!

Closing thoughts

This quest is tricky, keep trying and you'll get it. The Dafangshi only appear on their special spot, and once they do, you will get all 3 in one go, so don't worry if you still have 0.

This might be the first fishing job quest with spearfishing, so also take this time to familiarize yourself with the spearfishing UI.

There appears to be some RNG with fish sizes and speed, so adapt to it. And you can keep rounding in circles as the fishing spots will re-appear on the same area.
